to begin

Any person can do this kind of practice: young people, old people, people who have or haven’t done yoga before, etc… We will adapt the practice to suit each particular case.

recomendaciones - Ashtanga yoga

For class, you should bring a hand towel, comfortable clothing (leggings, tanktops, etc.). You can bring your own yoga mat but we also provide them for those who don’t have their own.

If you already practice Ashtanga Yoga, check out the schedule and pick what times work best for you. If our schedule doesn’t work out for you, you may contact us by phone or email. We are in the process of expanding our classes.  You may begin any day of the month.

  • Turn off your phone before coming in.

  • Don’t eat for at least 3 hours before practice. If you are hungry, try to eat something light like a piece of fruit or drink some tea.

  • Shower and use the bathroom prior to practice. Wait at least half an hour after practice if you want to shower again.

  • Ashtanga Yoga is traditionally practiced six consecutive days during the week, with one day off.  On your day off, you should rest and take an oil bath.

  • Whenever there is a full moon or a new moon, we rest as well.  The shala will be closed on full/new moon days.

  • Bring a hand towel and comfortable clothing. If you practice without a shirt, it is mandatory to use a cotton rug.

  • You can use the yoga mats in the shala, but we recommend that you bring your own for hygienic reasons. You can store your mat in the shala. If you do not come to the shala because you are out of town or on vacation, we will hold your mat for up to 30 days. If your mat is unclaimed after that period, it will go to someone else who needs it.

  • If you use any materials from the shala, please put them back where you got them from.

  • Please give us at least seven days’ notice prior to the month’s end if you would like to increase or decrease the amount of days you come to practice, or if you would like to stop coming to practice. Your spot can be given to someone else who wants to begin.

  • The menstrual cycle: women should not practice on days with heaviest flow, and while on their periods women should not do inversions.

  • If you experience any kind of pain or injury, let the teacher know.

  • The shala is not responsible for lost personal objects.
